The GETTING Plurality Research Network, part of Harvard University’s Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation, in conjunction with MIT Connection Science, will co-host a series of virtual workshops for global regulators titled Policymaking for AI & Web3. The aim of the workshops is to assist global regulators in obtaining the most up-to-date education and knowledge about emerging technologies in the AI and Web3 domains in order to improve their ability to shape global public policy and regulation in those fields.
The curated series will review emerging technologies, providing foundational information on the way they are designed, the opportunities and challenges they present, and their impact on society and democracy. The workshops will be delivered by experts from across academia, as well as public and private sectors.

Danielle Allen is James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and Director of the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation at Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. She is a professor of political philosophy, ethics, and public policy. She is also a seasoned nonprofit leader, democracy advocate, tech ethicist, distinguished author, and mom. Read more.
Alex ‘Sandy’ Pentland directs MIT Connection Science, an MIT-wide initiative, and previously helped create and direct the MIT Media Lab and the Media Lab Asia in India. He is one of the most-cited computational scientists in the world, and Forbes declared him one of the “7 most powerful data scientists in the world”. Read more.

Gabriele Mazzini is the Team Leader on the AI Act at the European Commission. He is the architect and lead author of the proposal and is currently focusing on supporting legislative negotiations between the Parliament and the Council. Before joining the European Commission, Gabriele held several positions in the private sector in New York and in other EU institutions. Read more.
